Pixel 7 At-a-Glance weather is appearing on older phones

Tapping that pencil will allow you to change even more aspects of it, truly adjusting it to your liking. It’s also worth mentioning that the scale of adjustments you can make to widgets depends on the app grid size. A bigger grid allows for more minute adjustments, while a small grid only allows for extreme adjustments. The expanded forecast is part of the At a Glance widget, the non-removable strip of text at the top of your Pixel phone’s home screen and lock screen. This widget has always shown you contextually important information, such as upcoming calendar events, weather warnings, and traffic reports.

At the bottom of your screen, you'll find a row of favorite apps. Long-press on the widget you choose and find an open spot on your homescreen where you want it to go. There are multiple solutions to set the widget back on the home screen; just keep in mind you may have to try more than one or all of them.

In essence, this setting changes the number of icons that can sit on your homescreen. The most is a 5×5 grid, and the least is a 2×2 grid that only allows four total icons on the homescreen. Personally, I prefer the 5×5 on the Pixel 6, since the device is on the larger side. There are a few different parts to the homescreen on a Google Pixel device. Depending on how you put these parts together, you can end up with a very different homescreen than the next person. For instance, utilizing widgets, you can customize the Pixel’s homescreen to display tons of information at your fingertips, so you don’t miss a thing.

A simple toggle switch to remove the At a Glance widget from the home screen. On your phone's Home screen, touch and hold an empty space. You'll sometimes get animations in the search bar on your Home screen. The animations are temporary for special events, like holidays.

Customizing Widgets and At A Glance on the Pixel’s Home screen

If you don’t fancy the At a Glance widget but still want to get the Google widget app on your home screen, you'll need to add it as a shortcut. You'll see the detailed weather info whenever you open the shortcut. You can always long-press the placed widget anytime if you want to reposition, resize, or remove it. Also, you can tap the widget anytime to open the full weather app. Tapping the weather icon on the At a Glance widget, for example, will open the Google app to show the full weather. Another setting you’ll see right under themed icons is the App grid option.

Additionally, you can also clear data with cache if you are okay with your home screen resetting to its original settings. In some instances, the Clock & Weather widget does not show right after restarting the device; it takes a few seconds to come back on the home screen. The widget can also disappear if the flight or battery saver mode is enabled. So if you restart your device, the widget should pop up after a few seconds, and if any of the modes mentioned before is enabled, turn it off, and hopefully, the widget will pop up again. The next page will show you the real-time weather info of your area.

Solution Check for software updates

Many Android OEMs have their weather apps and widgets; depending on who made your Android phone, you may have plenty of options. If none of the solutions worked for you, there are not many easy options left, but that does not mean the problem can’t be fixed anymore. According to some people, enabling device location works, and the weather widget stops disappearing.

So you can try that if you want, but if the location is off, the widget can disappear only for a few seconds and then comes back even if you don’t enable location. So we have no explanation why it would fix the issue, but it works for some people, so there is no harm in trying that. Updating the software worked for a lot of people, but if your device is already up to date, you will have to try other solutions.

At a Glance relies on Google weather, which works accurately and doesn’t require any extra setup other than turning on your phone's location. It works once you add the widget on the home screen, plus you can tap the weather icon to show full details and climate forecasts for up to 10 days. After you choose to install the Google Weather app icon on the Pixel home screen, you can choose from two widgets. Just long-press anywhere on your home screen and scroll down until you see the two weather widgets .

You may opt for those instead of the At a Glance widget. 30W fast charging and Pixel's addictive features like automatic Call screening and Pixel recorder help make the Pixel 7 Pro an alluring phone even as an iterative update. Finally, open the Substratum Lite app again (labeled "lite" in your app drawer) and switch to the Manager tab. Here, tick the box next to "Pixel Launcher," then tap the "1 Selected" button and choose "Enable selected." Go ahead and restart your phone one last time. One of the hallmark features of the Google Pixel series is the classic home screen widget that shows the date and weather. This widget is built-in to the default “Pixel Launcher,” but you may want to remove it.

In the meantime, check out what else is new in software on the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro. The Google Pixel 7 Pro and its smaller sibling launched in October. They’re Google’s best phones yet, and other than some choice hardware upgrades, they also brought along some exclusive software features. One of them is now finally finding its way to older Pixel phones.

Weather apps allow users to get instant alerts regarding weather conditions. In this article we will show you how to install the Google Weather app icon on your Pixel’s homescreen. This new expanded weather forecast isn’t exactly a game changing feature, but it’s good to see that Google hasn’t forgotten about its older devices.

He isn't shy to dig into technical backgrounds and the nitty-gritty developer details, either. His first steps into the Android world were plagued by issues. After running into connectivity problems with the HTC One S, he quickly switched to a Nexus 4, which he considers his true first Android phone. Since then, he has mostly been faithful to the Google phone lineup, though these days, he is also carrying an iPhone in addition to his Pixel 6.
